A responsible attitude to resources is one of the foundations of our company’ sustainable development. The energy that we place on the market is generated in an environmentally responsible way and we strive to improve environmental protection every year. In addition to economic benefits, all our projects also contribute to the well-being of the community where we operate and the generations to come.

Since 2013, we have invested over EUR 20 million in construction of small power plants on oil and gas fields in Serbia, where the gas, which used to be flared, is used for generating thermal energy and electricity sold on the free market. This helped us achieve new values for our employees and shareholders, but also reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly.

Also, NIS is the first major retail network in Serbia to include compressed natural gas in its offer, which is said to be the fuel of the future due to its economic and environmental benefits. What is more, compressed natural gas intended for industrial use is produced in NIS’ plant on the Ostrovo gas field, which ensures new energy for the development of domestic economy, but also encourages responsibility to the environment.
