NIS Group is a major vertically integrated power generation systems in Southeast Europe. NIS has been spreading its operations beyond Serbia, in the adjacent Balkan region countries. Regional expansion takes two principal directions – oil and gas exploration and production (in Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina) and through the development of a retail network (in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria and Romania). In total, NIS operates a network of over 400 refuelling stations in the Balkan market in two brands – NIS Petrol and the premium brand GAZPROM. In the realm of electricity trade, NIS is present in the markets of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Slovenia and Hungary.
