We live and work in line with a catchphrase that we have not inherited this country from our ancestors, but rather borrowed it from generations to come after us. Being aware that energy sector, to which we belong, has this particular responsibility for environmental protection, we want to give our full contribution to environmental protection and reduction of gases with greenhouse effects.

That is why we use the best available techniques in our business processes, and in 2019 only, we invested RSD 534 million into environmental projects in all business segments. We have invested considerable fund resources into the procurement of the modern equipment for Pancevo Oil Refinery in order to reduce additionally the emission of gases into the atmosphere. During the previous years, the emission of harmful gasses in the Refinery was reduced by more than 10 percent, concentrations of benzene are lower than the values prescribed by the EU standards, and evaporation of harmful substances during tank truck loading at loading stations have been reduced to zero. Complex for the production of gasoline, diesel and gasses has been reconstructed and upgraded, as well as the Danube jetty.

We may proudly emphasize that our Refinery is the first energy facility in Serbia, which has received from the state authorities, the integrated IPPC (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control) permit. This permit confirms that the production process in Refinery is fully harmonized with the highest local and European standards in the area of environmental protection, and it obliges NIS to continue with large investments in environmental projects. With our actions, we endeavor to inspire other companies to register environmental protection into their lists of priorities.
