Carrying out business operations during the COVID-19 pandemic is certainly a major challenge for all business systems, especially for large companies such as NIS. That is why prompt reaction and good organisation are the key factors in tackling this challenge.

In response to the spread of COVID-19, we have offered new services to our consumers in order to enhance the safety of both our customers and our employees. We have enabled payment for fuel via the Drive.Go app, which can now be done via a mobile phone, without going to the cash register. We also launched the service of picking up and paying for ordered items at a number of NIS Petrol and GAZPROM petrol stations, in cooperation with the courier service D-Express.

Help when it is most needed

From the early days of the pandemic, we have been doing as much as we can to support healthcare workers and local communities in these challenging times.

Acting quickly, as soon as the pandemic started, we donated 270 tons of jet fuel to Air Serbia, the national airline, who used it to deliver medical equipment to the country and bring home Serbian citizens stranded abroad after lockdown. Our majority shareholder Gazprom Neft provided fuel for vehicles of the emergency medical service, the police, the firefighting service, and the army, so that help could come to any citizen as soon as needed.

NIS donated 500 sets of scrubs to the Serbian Clinical Center and the Batajnica town hospital as a sign of support to the healthcare workers fighting the pandemic. Together with UNICEF, we bought 56 oxygen flow meters for COVID hospitals across Serbia. NIS also provided financial aid to the Torlak Vaccine Institute in acquiring new diagnostics equipment for detection of the SARS-Cov-2 virus. To ease the administrative workload on medical staff, NIS paid for a set of new computers for the Čačak town hospital. NIS volunteer club packed and delivered over 60 thousand liters of our Jazak drinking water to the Zvezdara, Dr Dragiša Mišović, and Bežanijska kosa general hospitals and the Dr Vasa Savić Specialized Pulmonary Hospital in the town of Zrenjanin.

The NIS volunteer club unites over 1700 company employees, who make all efforts to support local communities. Just in the last year NIS volunteers invested over 2000 working hours in various projects, including redecoration and upgrading of the facilities of town and village hospitals. The volunteer club also focused on supporting socially vulnerable groups. During the lockdown, they organized a campaign to help people over 65 with shopping and errands. Some of the volunteers showed their craft skills in making masks and visors for medical workers. Our firefighting brigade in the town of Kikinda helped the municipal authorities by disinfecting surfaces in public spaces.

Social responsibility has always been one of our governing principles, and we are committed to keep supporting our communities in the continued fight against the pandemic. We believe that only joined efforts based in mutual respect and understanding will help us overcome the challenges ahead.
